Mary Skelter Finale Review (Xune)

The port is not that bad if you compared it to the switch version, its the same game but with better framerate and loading time. I wished they port from the PS4 version, like everyone else, but i dont expect too much from IFI at this point.
I didnt have any issues with the game from start to finish, no crashes and no visible framedrops (the "classic" IF constant 63fps). If you played the second game on PC, you can expect the same level of port quality for this game, not that great for PC standards but playable.
Just be aware that the lightning, on 3D or 2D elements, and 3D textures arent looking good in this version but you can make the lightning more bearable with Reshade. Moreover this game seems to have a proper 2k resolution compared to the previous one.
About the game, its more of the same previous games except you need to manage 15 characters this time and the dungeon are way bigger with better level design, it's "quality over quantity" for the dungeons this time. The story was enjoyable with nothing suprising going on.
It took me 87h to 100% the game. The last chapter is a point of no return for the characters events so be careful of that.
For The DLCs, there are two differents ones despite their names. It's highly suggested that you finish the main game before doing them because they serve as an epilogue for each girls.
The first "Mary Skelter: Locked Up in Love" is a short VN focused on fan-service following the second bad ending of the game. With a common route who takes about 20min + 5min per girls (main Blood Maidens casts without Otsuu, Little Mermaid, Mary, Charlotte and Pyre). You can't save during the VN part but you can skip the common route to a heroine route after you complete the VN at least once. Furthermore you unlock an extra route with Otsuu after one completion. It's ok if you want more lovely events with the differents heroines, there are new models for each heroines and new CGs but you can skip this and only do the second DLC.
The sescond VN "Mary Skelter: Locked Up in Love True end" is a short VN focused on fan-service following the true ending of the game. There is a route for each characters, Blood Maidens and humans ones. You need to finish the main game to unlock all the events for each characters. Took about 10min per girls and 5 for the "main game" story. Like the previous DLC you have new and more CGs and one swimsuit model for each Blood Maidens compared to the first DLC. It's a sweet epilogue for each girl in the game. Don't expect more than that story-wise. The only downside of the VN is that each girls have 3 events to watch and the game go back to the main menu each time at the end of an event.

Overall score : 6.5/10

The good :
-All of the mains characters in the series are used in battle. You have to manage 3 differents team each have his own dungeon parts to explore.
-The level design is overall better than the previous game. In general each floor of a dungeon relies on a mechanic for each team, you need to use one specific blood abilities to resolve the puzzle.
-The story is great and i loved the new characters. All of them are japanese dubbed which is a big plus.
-Best OST of the series in my opinion. One different for each tower, same for the normal battle depending of the tower.
-Overall the jobs balance is better than the previous games.

The bad :
-Straight port from the Switch version : the lightning/post processing/textures issues are still there, its clearly visible if you compared it to the PS4 version. The loading time are a bit long but still better than the Switch. You can make it look a bit better with Reshade if needed. I dont know if it's the same in the PS4/switch version but there are 1 missing wall textures in the Froze Jail Tower and 2 in the Eiserne Tower.
-The dungeons are overall too long, one less floor should have been perfect. Some rooms/puzzles required a lot of back and forth and an extensive use of blood skills, in partcular Hameln attraction animation is too long.
-In chapter 3 onward you can encounter previous mini bosses as standard ennemies, they hit like a truck specially on normal/fear and are not worth the trouble, the xp and loot arent that great if you kill them. It forces you to escape the battle everytime you encounter them (the encounter rate of these monsters is more important in the last dungeon) and it's a high chance of a game over if two of them ambush you. It makes the overall gameplay experience a bit laborious.
-The bloodfarm is limited, same as the previous game. It's bad since you need to farm for 3 teams of 5 characters. Furthermore, Hameln is the only one who can pull all the flowers and who can improve "rng" the loot making her team the best to bloodfarm.
-The new xp make the blood devolution system worthless. We gain twice less xp than before so re-leveling up characters is a chore.
-Like the previous games, a lot of skills are useless.
