Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Review (Strawberry Company)
This game is a solid 9/10 for me.
The only reason it's a 9 is because it's not the absolute definite version of Marvel vs Capcom 2.
The Dreamcast version of Marvel vs Capcom 2 is and always will be the absolute definitive edition as this is what it is still played in tournaments. Capcom really dropped the ball with this one, they should of allowed us to play all of the versions of marvel vs capcom like Playstation 2 and Dreamcast versions but instead we're stuck with the arcade version.
Arcade version is fine, but it's not the version most of us spent our time playing at home during sleepovers.
Unfortunately for me, I'll probably still be going back to my Dreamcast copy when I want to play by myself, but when it comes to online, I guess I'll be stuck with this for right now.
The sound and music is slightly different. They toned down the music and I really don't like it, even adjusting isn't the way it was before. The music is partly what makes this game so special so it needs to remain front and center like it always was.
I've been playing Marvel vs Capcom since I was 8 years old, I have thousands of hours in this game so it's very easy for me to notice small nuances. Maybe it's just me nit-picking, but having played the originals, I know exactly what to expect.
I own all versions of Marvel vs Capcom 2, including the Playstation 3 version that is no longer available, the Playstation 3 version is probably the second best one. The Playstation 3 version also has better graphics, you can see more details in the carnival stage, for example, as it isn't washed out like it is in this version.
This has taught me a very valuable lesson, no matter how many remasteres and re-releases they do for awesome games, they will never come close to being as good as the originals, at least in my experience. People add their own secret little changes and fine-tune things that weren't there before. It's incredibly annoying.
Their are some bugs that benefit certain characters that were fixed while others were not. This seems to be some sort of dev with an agenda because they don't make these changes public. Like juggernaut's power glitch, he was fine, barely anyone even played him as it is. It's stupid hidden little changes like that make me resentful and bring this down to a 9/10 instead of a 10/10. I'm sick and tired of dev's with an agenda making little changes to a game that was already a Masterpiece because they think they know better then the original creators.
