Marvel's Midnight Suns: The Good, The Bad, and The Undead Review (|Pipe Dreams)

I recently played the Deadpool DLC for Marvel Midnight Suns on Steam, and overall, I found it to be a mixed bag. On the one hand, I appreciated how the developers captured the essence of the character, including his chaotic nature and fourth-wall-breaking antics. Deadpool's voice actor was also a pleasant surprise, even though I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in.
On the other hand, I didn't find Deadpool to be a particularly strong addition to the game from a strategic perspective. His playstyle revolves around avoiding damage and building up a KO multiplier, which doesn't mesh well with most of the other heroes in the game. While characters like Marvel or America can absorb hits and keep fighting, Deadpool is better suited for hit-and-run tactics.
Furthermore, Deadpool's moveset felt lackluster compared to other characters, and his cards didn't offer much in the way of interesting gameplay mechanics. I also thought it was odd that he had a Taunt card in his deck, given his focus on evasion.
One missed opportunity was the lack of interaction between Deadpool and Slade before the Mephisto fight. These two characters could have played off each other for some comedic effect, but unfortunately, Deadpool only gets three missions to shine. The DLC as a whole also felt short, with only three story missions and a handful of general missions.
That said, the addition of the Vampyres as enemies was a refreshing change of pace, and I enjoyed the challenge they posed. I also appreciated some of the smaller touches, like Deadpool's Abbey Building feature, which could have been expanded upon further.
Overall, while I had some fun playing the Deadpool DLC, I don't see myself using him much in future playthroughs. There were some missed opportunities and underdeveloped ideas, but if you're a fan of the character or just looking for some new enemies to fight, it's worth checking out.
