Marvel's Midnight Suns: Redemption Review (Pedwins)
TLDR" The devs don't feel like they really learnt there lesson from the deadpool dlc, the same rules as last time apply if you like venom and think 3 missions 1 being a really lame boss fight the second being a rehash of the campaign and the third being a boss you never see again after that mission then this is 20$ well spent. Id argue the plot is much better? but venom should be in the base game arguably just like deadpool it feels forced his inclusion as dlc tying back into the vampire plot when he shouldn't even be part of that.
The whole setup is Spider man and Hunter (who for some reason sounds either really echoy or tired with no in between) finally realize oh yeah venom is a unresolved plot thread and now that 20$ have been handed over we should probably go check on him. you go to the sewers and find he got turned into vampire by eating the vampires???? so then you fight him and mephisto gets hamfisted into the plot for a few minutes
Venom is cool but this all feels so lazy, Second mission is literally the exact same setup as the last time your in limbo just technically harder because you have less aoe abilities between hunter and venom.
The voice acting is fine venom sounds like venom eddie acts like eddie brock but as I brought up in the tldr what the hell is up with hunter???? (specifically male didnt play female)
Matthew mercer is a talented voice actor, did you guys ask him to record all his lines at 3 am in the back of a subway car? he sounds more bored than in the base game but in addition to being bored sounds like he wants to curl up and take a nap
Did you not let him have his morning coffee? was there no way to get new cut scene takes? maybe were just lazy? regardless I complain because its so jarring to have any emotional scenes when the main lead sounds so tired. Mission one its jarring mission two its jarring mission 3 and hangouts are fine? but still not good. I already didnt like mercer in this role from the base game but somehow you made me dislike his acting for this game, he feels terrible. as a fan of his work I SHOULDN'T FEEL THAT WAY
Just like how venom shouldn't be tied to the dlc plot and shouldnt be dlc, because him just randomly becoming a vampire cause he ate some is stupid especially when you can get abilities that make venom eat.... Vampires I get there's a thing called game play separation but it just feels so distracting and lazy. I love venom but this still isn't 20$ im just glad theres no other dlc packs that are legitimately interesting or worthwhile for me to get more enjoyment of a lack luster game
