Marvel's Midnight Suns: Blood Storm Review (Cirdan)
The base game is great, the DLCs are fine, some more missions and some new characters.
The story and the DLC villains are a bit lame, the main game has some better villains. But you get more of the things I like, more variety and some entertaining and sometimes awkward character interactions all put around an excellent battle system.
Achievement rant starting (skip if you do not care for achievements):
But what I really can't stand and find so annoying are steam achievements which do not register. It's horrible that DLC achievements break you perfect playthrough. But if you than buy the stupidly expensive DLCs and the achievements do not trigger (as with previous DLCs) most likely in part due to it stupid added launcher ... I get annoyed. The Venom challenge is not even possible to complete in new game+. Support questions and bug reports are ignored, wrongfully handled in their ticket system and no solution found. A solution is to start a completely new playthrough, which are like 60h+!
So I would not recommand the DLC if you have to pay more than ~5$.
It's a shame that a great base game is surrounded with so many small annoyances:
- added secondary game launcher (which does nothing for you);
- broken achievements;
- the lamest, flattest and most boring protagonist since Tenet;
- broken in game challenges which you need to complete for the characters signature ability;
- game crashes (for me it happens ~ every 10h of playing);
- a lot of clutter animations (if you want to start a new "day" you have to skip three small cut scenes);
- the steam controller on screen keyboard is often displayed outside the displays border, so you cant use or see it, in all fairness most likely a steam problem with the new Big Picture mode)
