MainFrames Review (Gregram)
Soooo this is a tough cookie. Controls are great and some elements are true masterpieces (tunnel “boss”, helping mini-daeon sections, mix of puzzle and precision platforming) but it doesn't have the right level of polish. Some sections can be bypassed (it really feels like it was done on purpose, it's just too obvious). Often there's room for correcting your mistakes if you’re fast enough. In other places room for error is so small it almost feels impossible. There are small bugs that won’t break your game or even make you throw the controller out of the window but will affect overall reception of the game as a whole. There’s so much good stuff that was barely used it's weird that the game is not longer. A lot of love was put into that project and it shows. It’s a shame there was no extra time to polish it a bit more because it could be the new Super Meat Boy or Celest. Still it's worth your time.
Things good to know (no spoilers):
- If mini-daeon will die during attempt to help him and won’t respawn go back to main menu and continue game
- There’s no option to replay levels so if you miss something you will need to start a game from the beginning
