Magical Drop VI Review (Desertskunk)
After MDV there's good and bad here, but I feel this entry goes a long way to make up for the problems of the past. First and foremost...it's actually finished to a good playable way out of the box. The story is cute, simple and quick, unlocking characters is a nice touch to make you play additional modes of the game and the music is classic.
The gameplay is the exact same frantic match 3 that the series is known for and there are no major surprises.
Now as for the bad, I'm not the biggest fan of the new art direction, it almost unchibifies characters and the animations in the background I feel are more distracting than charming this time around, though not for all characters. This was really hit or miss which characters are annoying to play as (for instance Daughter Strength was all over the place frequently). I rather enjoyed the more dynamic actions from 5, but this will do for now.
Aside from this, I had high hopes of a game that finally has all of the characters of the series in one entry that is easy to get ahold of, but that they are added as DLC is a bit of a mixed blessing. I hope that the new devs release more than just characters, because so far, this new entry is thumbs up from me. highly recommended.
