Mafia: Definitive Edition Review (ShadowStorm)
Mini Plot details: You play as Tommy Angelo a former Cab driver who enters the Mafia life by accident. He is held at gunpoint one night while waiting for a fare and is forced to outrun fellow gang members.
Pro's:
Graphics: The graphics are a real treat, the game was remade from the ground up with better lighting, physics, cars, sounds, etc. Although it's 100 percent different than the original you can still feel a sense of familiar , while driving throughout the new and improved Lost Heaven.
Sounds: The memorable track from the original Mafia makes it triumphant return with a new score this time around. I for one usually had the music off so i can't really quote on the music all too well.
Plot: The plot from the original is well in tact actually. You can almost play both games at the exact same time and both would play out almost the same minus different cut-scenes at certain points.
Free Ride mode: In Free Ride mode, Tommy starts at Salieri's Bar with access to his garage, wardrobe, and armory. There are options to change the time of day and weather. Free Ride mode unlocks after completing An Offer You Can't Refuse.
There are 12 phone booth missions in Free Ride. They are activated by reading the notes in Salieri's Bar. After completing the first mission, additional ones will become available as you progress through the game. Missions are given by Herbert Baskerville, and completing each one awards a vehicle, weapon, or outfit. These end game contents are pretty much fun and challenging at the same time.
Cons: Length: The plot itself is around 10/12 hours maybe. Right when you get nice and comfortable with the game and you really start to enjoy yourself the damn credits roll. Also it's a linear story so it's chapter after chapter. This isn't a GTA game where you go to mission to mission in your own leisure.
This game still gets a 10 out of 10, the pacing itself was good i just wish it was at least another 10 hours longer.
