Machinarium Review (MavihsLH)
Played this when I was 11, back in 2013 when they brought it over to the play store. And I remember being absolutely enchanted by the soundtrack and also Machinarium's world. The art design is simply phenomenal and there's alot of care and attention to detail to it.
Almost 10 years later it holds up incredibly well and then some more. Amanita Design simply don't miss when it comes to creating the most artistically pleasing worlds ever in an indie game. And the soundtrack is just as good. With a commendable array of memorable tracks jam packed into a fairly short 4 hour experience.
Though the puzzles can be a little frustrating considering you need to stand close to points of interest, meaning you can't get a little shortcut by frantically moving the mouse and hoping the cursor turns yellow (this indicates that you can interact with the object).
Sometimes you'll stand right next to the place where you can insert or interact with a puzzle item and the game won't respond. You'll need to be precise at exactly which point you want to work on, which can be pretty frustrating. I've had moments where I've tried to put an item at the proper spot, only to realise I need to stand either a little more closer or somewhere else nearby.
Overall it's still among the greatest puzzle games of all time. With smart and intuitive puzzles. That can seem outlandish, especially with the objectives you're supposed to do. But the in-game hint system and Amanita's own guide will tremendously help you if you're in a dire pinch.
