Lunark Review (Macaroni-tan)
Rapidly becoming a huge fan of this dev Canari Games. I played Cast Away first and now I'm playing Lunark (haven't finished it yet)
The game is a lovely Prince of Persia-like that's perfectly scratching that itch, it's exactly the same feeling as playing Cast Away, how it was a lovely little Zelda-like that perfectly scratched that itch.
I'm loving the story so far which surprised me. The controls are a lot better than the controls of Prince of Persia - for better or worse as there are times I really enjoy that super-clunky style of the original PoP game.
Great music, love the art and the animations, great level design too. Similar to Cast Away, the price is perfect, maybe even better than perfect, you won't regret buying these games at full price.
Buy Lunark, buy Cast Away, you'll have a great weekend or two with them.
Edit (after finishing the game) Yep, it all pretty much still applies, the game is very fun and it was longer than I expected. I enjoyed the story which was a big surprise. I didn't expect to dislike it, I just expected not to care lol. There were a handful of sections that I profoundly disliked but it was a very small portion of the game. A brief dark segment in the final level was a disaster and I'm glad it only lasted a few screens, but one level (I think it was level 9 or 10) I really hated the whole thing.
All in all, a very very good Prince of Persia / Out of This World-like. The controls were close to perfect which is a big deal for making a game of this style in the modern day. I give it an 8.5/10
