Luck be a Landlord Review (piercebuster)

Luck be a Landlord takes the push-your-luck genre for a spin. And spin you will, because that's all you'll be doing. Usually these games will have a little more depth or asymmetry... but I found spinning my wheel to be... well, like spinning my wheels. It's boring. And as other negative reviewers have mentioned, there are too many different items now that getting (and, unfortunately, not getting) the ones you need for synergies just feels like luck out of your control. Be aware: the demo (with less items) doesn't accurately represent the full game in that way.
I suppose part of my negative review comes from my experience playing a mechanically similar game called Crop Rotation. Both games have the same three-card-draft between rounds, with your drafted cards randomly filling the empty squares. But while Luck Be A Landlord stops there at the depth of an evaporating kiddie pool, Crop Rotation adds strategy by letting you merge your cards with duplicates, better execution of adjacency bonuses and set bonuses, and balancing how much water your crops have during the different seasons.
Also in the vein of exciting push-your-luck games is the wildly more dynamic and tense autobattler Backpack Battles.
When you have good games that are actually fun to play, why settle for one with the zombified excitement of a slot machine?
