Luck be a Landlord Review (Nikkie_Slaughter)

Wish I could give a neutral recommendation. It's ok. The strategy is not as deep as I hoped - rather than being able to focus on a particular strategy, you really just need to grab things as you see them and hobble together enough points to get through.
Doing achievements feels forced rather than exciting. While some come naturally, many of them require you to get to endless mode and just grind through different spins until you get what you need. This is not fun. As a comparison, I'm still trying to get my last two achievements on Balatro and they have all felt exciting and fun to pursue and get.
There's also a huge oversight with the spin countdown to rent due as well as the amount of upcoming rent due. You see it when you finish a spin, but nowhere else. This should be on the screen at all times.
The Balatro developer said this was a major inspiration for Balatro and I can see the inspiration but am glad that Balatro took it to an entirely new level. I know I've been negative here but the initial game (which took me under five hours to beat) was enjoyable and a decent way to pass time. I just thought there would be more game that would open up and though a few things are added as you pass through different levels, the base game is pretty much the same.
I bought it at full price and regret it. If it was $5, I'd be happy enough, so I can recommend it on sale if you like this type of RNG heavy, luck-based games, but can't recommend at full price, particularly since most of the content is really just replaying over and over with the same symbols.
