Lost Words: Beyond the Page Review (Torria)

Lost Words: Beyond the Page is about grief, love, family and finding your way through the fog of loss. Any child who is/was close to their grandparents will feel this game, as it pulls hard on those heartstrings.

There are moments where you’ll pause, not because of gameplay, but because of the emotional weight of what’s being told.

The voice acting in Lost Words is another beautiful touch, with Izzy’s voice filled with wonder and sadness in just the right measure. The voice of Lump will be another tenderly sweet addition to the game itself.

The gameplay mechanics are gentle and fitting for the story. Division between puzzles in the diary and in game, give enough differentiation to keep the player interested. Each puzzle you solve is not just a gameplay challenge but a way of navigating the emotions that Izzy faces in the real world, and as the story unfolds, the puzzles become more than just obstacles—they become symbolic of the healing process.

It’s a game that will bring out feelings you didn’t realize you had, drawing on universal experiences of loss, hope, and healing. Its narrative is beautifully told, its visuals a feast for the eyes, and its messages resonate long after the game ends. If you’ve ever experienced the ache of growing up or the sting of losing someone important, this game will reach deep into your heart and make you feel. And in the end, it will leave you with a quiet, bittersweet reminder that even the most painful moments are part of our story, and they shape us into who we are.
