Lost in Random: The Eternal Die Review (sillybrian)

I knew already I was going to love this from the demo, but came here to gloat a bit more. I'm really, really infatuated with this game.
This is the first real isometric action roguelite since Hades that really captures every element that makes this genre great.
This is very similar in structure to other action roguelites where you have runs, rooms to clear, eventually bosses, and then between runs you unlock permanent upgrades, weapons, etc.
What makes this game so much greater than many of the others that come out is that this team really paid close attention to the nuance and technical timing and relationships between various combat effects. The combat in this game feels so rewarding, and everything you do feels like it has impact. The speed of combat is great, the enemies don't feel too spongy, and you really feel like you are challenged to come up with a strategy on your builds.
Additionally, the voice work and art work in this game is simply superb. Especially the voice work, and the character designs. This is such a pleasure to look at, and lends this super unique ambiance to the game time.
My only critique at this point is some general QoL items. For example, being able to compare a new card you are looking to pick up with your current card... right now you can't see them both on the same screen, and since you can only have one somtimes you have to close the window and look at your current card in the inventory, then go back to the card altar. Little things like that. But overall this game is really quite good in its release state.
I haven't looked forward to a roguelite this much since Hades II, and this is definitely in my top 3. I cannot wait to play more of it both on my PC and Steam Deck. Great job folks.
