Lords of the Fallen: Ancient Labyrinth Review (SkacikPL)
Decent but not that good.
Before anything else, the DLC is structured just like main game.
2.5 Hours length claim is greatly exaggerated and bases on expected time to solve the puzzles.
Actual content is around 15-20 minutes worth, including the boss.
Additionally the DLC is structured to be integral part of the main game, as finish reward is split into 3 categories (3 armor sets; light, medium, heavy) making it necessary to play it through three times if you want to obrain all 3 sets.
Arguably the best part of the DLC is the Lich/Keeper boss. I believe it's the hardest and most unforgiving boss in the game. During first three stages of fight a slight mistake results in wipe. Much like bossess of the base game (or even more), Lich is hard to the point of unfairness if you don't figure out the strategy to defeat him - and this time there's a very precise one which you have to follow for the first 3/4 of the encounter.
What i didn't like is just about anything else - keep in mind that those are my personal, subjective feelings:
-Enemies are mostly a rehash of existing ones with skeleton/ghost makeover.
-Enemies respawn is time based, you can't simply clear the labyrinth and keep it that way till you die. This just artificially elongates playtime.
-Plot makes no sense:
-Crafter: Hurr durr i found a dungeon i may or may not take you there
-Oh look a judge guy, with a whooping ~10 lines of dialogue and minimal justification for the setup
-Lore logs mention other groups of people who are present but you never meet them
Actual content encloses within:
-Weapon
-Shield
-Potion bottle
-Medium armor set (found within dungeon as a reward for puzzle solving)
-Three armor sets (acquirable once per playthrough)
-Few lore logs (included with a bug which crashes the game if you wish to enter lore section in UI)
-Attribute/Spell point shard (one each)
-Possibly one additional reward i may have missed with post-boss puzzle, though i'm not sure.
TL;DR
The DLC does not bring much to the table, content wise it's a bit underwhelming.
Most likely the best rewards are the always valuable spell/attribute shards and potion bottle.
New armors/weapons don't bring much to the table, as obviously making them better than in core game would be pay to win.
All it really offers is less than half an hour of actual game, some new equipment items which in the long run are just collectible junk in comparison to items available in base game. And a challenging boss - if that's to your liking, then by all means go ahead, if not - stay away.
It's a decent piece of DLC that could be treated as an integral part of a core game, but it's tad overpriced at the moment.
If i were to buy it again, i'd gladly do so but if it was for 6 euro/dollars or below. For 8 Euro/bucks it doesn't have much to offer.
