Lords of the Fallen: Ancient Labyrinth Review (Dire)

The base game was only mediocre, but this DLC is terrible. It's potentially just a huge time killer and consists of a ridiculously small area that has you running around activating runes and pushing levers in hopes of finding the right combination to get to the center. I still have no idea how to read the "map" here and apparently no one else knows it, either. It weren't so bad if the enemies in that level weren't so damn numerous and total assholes. When you're able to go there, heck even when you almost finished the game, these enemies are as tough as the final enemies (they're actually just skeleton versions of them....so poor), so it takes you at least 5 greatsword swings to even get them down. They are highly stagger resistant though and deal huge amounts of damage (shield guy with 2 hander, 2 handed knight, rogue and archer...my god the archer is the most obnoxious in melee, dealing insane amounts of damage and constantly guard breaking you!!!! An archer!!!! And he has like a million HP). Apart from that you will also have to contend with your usual banshees and a new large hammer wielding, teleporting ghost...which can only be harmed by non-physical weapon damage. Do you know how much non-physical weapon damage there is in the game? Almost none. I used the best weapon I had and that even required levelling ip faith...as a warrior and I still only did 42 points of damage per swing...and that guy has like 1,000 hp...
When you finally, somehow (I still don't know how) reach the center and get to fight the boss, you get instagibbed, because apparently that's a good boss mechanic. You have to get down his shield and avoid damage as much as possible, and then you have to time it just right to get behind a far away wall that has just been summoned, while the boss prepares his one shot AOE, which then of course still hits you after you've taken cover behind that fucking wall. Repeat 3 times....sucky DLC
