Little Goody Two Shoes Review (Glauca)

Before playing

Little Goody Two Shoes (LGTS) is a prequel of Pocket Mirror (PM) ,so if you want to play the latter keep in mind that this game will have heavy story related spoilers for PM in some endings.
I’ve just played the 2016 version of PM, so I don’t know how many changes the GoldenerTraum version has.

Gameplay

The game has mechanics and systems of:

Collectables
Currency
Dating
Exploration
Health
Hunger
Minigames
Multiple endings
Sanity
Suspicion
Resource management
Puzzles
Time passing

There isn't a saving system inside the menu or autosave, you’ve to save manually at the checkpoints.
The checkpoints are marked with a red ribbon, get closer and a blue bird will appear. There are 20 slots where you can save.I strongly encourage you to save on different slots and pretty often.
If you want to use an Item you have to use it from the menu, for example, if you have a key just interacting with the door won’t work, open the menu and use the key.
When you unlock an ending it will be internally saved in the game, you can see the endings achieved by interacting with Elise’s closet.
Gameplay with little spoilers
-The story takes place in a week ,Sunday to Saturday, divided into a schedule:Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Dusk, Evening and Witching hour.
Passing hours will consume 1 bread (the hunger bar) of five. You can restore it by buying food or if you’ve enough bread you can wait until Evening and talk with Lebkuchen, she’ll give you two breads every day.If you run out of bread you’ll have an special game over.
I’ve read people struggling with this mechanic, so be careful to not hardlock yourself.
You can buy and sell Items at the Bakery and at the Inn.
-The town folks can suspect that you’re a a witch if you don’t avoid suspicion you can get a special game over.Talking to them and answering right and giving Muffy food can cause it to decrease and otherwise increase
-There are collectibles: the Golden Girls(counted as the fireflies inside de bottle in Elise’s room) that can be seen at Evening or Witching Hour and if you find them all (25) you’ll get a scene
-Ask the girl/s for a date the first few days and then they’ll be scheduled by themselves. They affect various endings.

Schedule

Dawn
is mostly used to move the story forward but you can explore and buy Items
Morning,Afternoon and Dusk
are the working hours, you’ll have to choose between two minigames or you can go on a date, also there are secondary missions from the NPCs.
Minigames
There’re 4 minigames that look like arcade games with two phases each one with a time limit and 5 ranks(the best to worst):S,A,B,C,D.The better you do, the more money you'll make.
In all of the games if you do wrong you’ll be penalized and stunned, losing time.
I listed them from easiest to hardest for me *(FPS affects the minigames):

It’s raining apples:You have to collect the red apples that are falling from the sky moving left or right while avoiding the purple apples and anvils.
Chop, chop, chop:You have to press two buttons, cut the wood or kick the animal (or anvil)
Kiss the rat:You have to press two buttons, The children are going to throw a toy rat at you and you have to hit it according to the colors it has in the outline (blue or yellow)
Chicken frenzy:You’ve to pick eggs using the moving and interacting buttons. I had problems with this game because sometimes Elise’s wouldn't change sides, so it’s kinda clunky.

Dating Sim
From the second date you can choose options,do it well and you will get a heart.Save before the dates. You need 4 hearts at least to get the character endings . You can date the three at the same run but you won’t get all the hearts if you want the trophy, start with Rozenmarine and Freya, the next day go with Lebkuchen . If you miss two dates for two continuous days you’ll miss that girl.
Evening
also exploring and buying Items and you can search for the Golden Girls at this hour too
Witching hour
It’s the puzzles part and more exploration and where you can lose health but there’s a lot of healing items around so explore around

My general thoughts without spoilers

I’ve played +50 hours, this game is really beautiful and it shows that it was created with love.
The Story
It feels inspired by various old fairy tales like the The Red Shoes by Hans Christian Andersen,The Twelve Dancing Princesses... A lot of those stories involve witches, magic and demons or other worldly evil creatures in some of its versions.
If you like this aesthetic or type of stories, you’ll probably like this one. I think it’s simple and effective with some little plot twists but nothing, or at least for me, complicated to understand or mind blowing .
Also it’s a character driven story. You’ve to put yourself in Elise’s shoes and, maybe you won't like her as a person but you can appreciate her as a character and understand her motivations.
The bachelorettes are really sweet and I like them all.
The rest of the NPC are simple, but it does its job.
The Audiovisual
For me it’s a 10

The beautiful music.
80/90’s nostalgic anime aesthetic.
The cute child’s book style .
The detailed pixel art.
The breathtaking backgrounds.
The awesome animated scenes, although I had problems with one of them, the Rozenmarine’s one kept skipping by itself in all my runs.

The Gameplay

The minigames, I think they’re funny, but I’m too bad at the majority of them, I know it’s a me problem, but if you have slow reaction issues you may have problems earning money, which will make the game more difficult, even more if you want to do get all the endings in one run.
*(The FPS can affect severely the minigames.I had trouble to get S in Kiss the Rat even if I did it perfectly because the max points I could get was 157. Change FPS to 75 and put the lowest settings, and I finally reached 169.)
I personally didn’t have any real problem with the puzzles or getting key items, but I saw that a lot of people did, so I recommend you to explore well and keep an eye on the map task list during working hours.
The dating sim, at least for me, has the problem of not knowing what Elise will actually say when you have to choose an answer and if you choose wrong you won’t get a heart. So, save before meeting the girl.
Sometimes you can skip dialogue but for some reason not always, which can be really annoying if you have to replay some part or the entire game.
In some parts the game has weird hitboxes
Going from Elise's house to town after several hours of playing is starting to get tiring, I wish there was some kind of fast traveling.
There isn't a New Game+(get some kind of fast traveling, actually skipping scenes, keeping the collectables or something new),or bonus room nor way to see the Cgs(illustrations).
If you missed something and didn’t save before that you’ll have to start all over again
SAVE A LOT AND IN DIFFERENT SLOTS!

I still like the game despite all its flaws, but if you’re going to buy it keep this things in mind
