----------------
LEGO Horizon Adventures is a delightful fusion of LEGO and the Horizon franchise, seamlessly blending the beloved charm of LEGO games with the characters and loctions from Horzion Zero Dawn. This game showed potential, merging a LEGO game with an open-world blockbuster franchise like Horizon, but the two concepts just dont mix as well as they should, as its a repetitive roguelite-like game with some creative combat, and some occasional good jokes.
The story centers around Aloy, who seeks answers about her past. In her journey, she and her band of explorers explore a world shattered by a mysterious cataclysm. While the plot may not break new ground in storytelling, its accessible and family-friendly tone ensures that players of all ages remain invested in the adventure.
Gameplay in LEGO Horizon Adventures is a simple mix of exploration and combat. There are a few puzzles, but all are very simple and would barely even classify as a puzzle normally. You can customise your minifigures and home, to make them look exactly how you want them to. The controls are simple, intuitive and responsive, making it easy to switch between exploration and combat. The quests mainly just swap between explore, then fight, then explore, then fight again, and thats basically how every quest breaks down, so it can get quite repetitive. The game is also more roguelite than open world, which is odd considering the origins of the franchise.
Visually, LEGO Horizon Adventures excels with its vibrant, blocky environments and well-crafted character models. The game boasts dynamic lighting and weather effects that enhance immersion, showcasing how far the LEGO video game aesthetic has come.
Overall, LEGO Horizon Adventures successfully blends imaginative gameplay with a compelling world to create a captivating experience for younger audiences. While it might not push boundaries in terms of storytelling, the gameβs enjoyable mechanics and stunning visuals provide hours of entertainment for both LEGO enthusiasts and adventure game fans alike, despite its various shortcomings.
LEGO Horizon Adventures gets a 6/10.
