Learn Japanese to Survive! Hiragana Battle Review (Chubby Laser Kiwi)
Played it for a bit over 20 hours (with Steam closed so it didn't count). Super cute ad it's exactly what the title says, a little game that teaches you hiragana, some phrases and vocabulary. Your clichee RPG game which doesn't take away its charm. Sometimes the game is a bit self-conscious like on the clichee RPG parts or with your generic character personalities. You don't have to be a gamer to make it through the game. Game mechanics are all well explained or intuitive.
I just love it when games can also be educational. It is can be greatly implemented as a new learning tool (that is as of yet still underrated) since you are forced to repeat words or hiragana in order to proceed. Great job to the creators and I am glad that this kickstarter made it as a full version onto Steam! Little tip: finish all side quests in order to make a horse appear that will tell you a cute/helpful little thing. Might as well check out the homepage that they advertise for more resources, art-books and such. (I am not paid or anything to say this I genuienly am convinced as a consumer that the stuff they put out is good.)
Not sure if Steam Cloud works with the save files so just in case backup your saves by going into the game folder under your steam folder. Or just browse local game files via the Steam interface. There is a folder called saves. Make sure to just copy the whole thing.
EDIT: For people that use 120 (approx. 140 Hz) fps monitors the game will appear incredibly fast. Couldn't find a fix for that. Maybe if you temper with some config files you'll be able to lock it at 60 fps. Disclaimer: I did not change any files at all. From a bit of experience I know that sometimes you can change some extra settings that you would not be able to edit via in game menus such as the frame lock or some other extra graphics settings.
