Layers of Fear: Inheritance Review (SaturdayMonk)

I've beaten the main game a couple years back and to be completely honest, don't remember much about it. So you may consider my opinion to be null and void and there may be different endings, however the one I got didn't sit right with me. If I could somehow managed to remember the main game I would've left this one either even more dissatisfied or perhaps the exact opposite but currently, I don't think this kind of ending wasn't "earned". That's as far as I can talk about it without getting into spoiler territory. When it comes to gameplay, and puzzles take the majority of that portion, I didn't like how it was mostly trial and error but the final segment offered something a little different and I liked it. Also some of the trippy visuals and the overall soundtrack was well put together, yet the scare factor almost exclusively consisting of jumpscares kind of dragged everything down atmosphere-wise. On another note, I think Bloober has a serious problem with "dragging one thing for far too long" as at a certain part in this and at their other game Blair Witch I definitely wanted some segments to end way before than they actually did.
So, to come to the actual meat of this review, even if it obvious, do I recommend this one? Maybe not at full price even though it's not that pricey. If you can manage your expectations (mine were basically non existent, hence the thumbs up) or in case you happen to be a massive fan of the main game, you can get more than nothing from this one -and possibly more on the latter case- but otherwise you can safely pass on it. On the other hand if this was a part of the bundle there wouldn't be any reason to avoid it. Again, just don't expect much.
