Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society Review (ValiantBlade)
This game is a very similar sequel to Labyrinth of Refrain, and that's not a bad thing. The original Labyrinth of Refrain had excellent mechanics and mostly lacked fine-tuning, but was otherwise STELLAR. This game is basically the same mechanics but with a totally new map and many balancing changes, which is all I really wanted from a sequel.
The original game was so finely crafted that all I really need is just, more of it, and some slight twists like a new class roster that's more balanced, and different pacts. Which is precisely what this is. Also the devs, who are former Disgaea devs, absolutely kept the wonderful twisted dark themes of the first game, which is one of the things I really admired about the first, is how every character is an objectively terrible person but yet somehow no more terrible than anyone else in the setting.
You can easily start with this game, and I highly recommend this series in general. I'm not far but I was VERY aware of what import gamers had to say about this game. Back when this game got it's Japanese release in 2020 people were calling it the best RPG of the year and were eagerly awaiting localization.
EDIT: Interesting thing is this game is actually a fair bit more strategic than it's predecessor, which is a nice change since the first game was on the easy side, basic encounter-wise, even on Nightmare World difficulty. This game gave me a few early close calls even despite being familiar with it's mechanics, on the basic enemies, before I even had enough mana to pass Nightmare World. Unlike the first game I plan on trying not to abuse stockpiling too hard.
EDIT EDIT: The time estimate in the game description is only for the FIRST ACT. I won't say how you get to the second and third, but there's so much more, and I found out about it looking up the class list, turns out there's a different roster in the second act.
