Kingdom Rush Vengeance: Pirate Kings Review (jeffersonvolk)

I really enjoyed this DLC, for 5 dollars you get 5 levels with all but one having new unique enemies enter the battle. They have exceptional art and the levels themselves are pretty to look at and and fun to play. That is a messily DOLLAR per level, I don't typically like to assess the "value" of a game by its playtime but instead its content, however even taking that into account it can take around 2 hours to beat this mini campaign and it is well worth the money spent.
With the DLC you get a new tower and a new hero which both have interesting play styles not seen with other hero or towers. The tower gets a new function every level you upgrade it Level one is a simple barracks with one very strong unit, the second level adds another weaker unit, the third makes the tower able to shoot at a small range, and the final upgrade adds a longer ranged cannon that can sometimes deploy goblins at a long range. It was a lot of fun and is now one of my favorite towers. The hero is equally cool and strong, one of her skills is to either frighten enemies making them walk the opposite way down the path for a short time, and she can additionally with her main ability she possesses units to make them walk the wrong way down the path and attack others. This is such a fun and powerful ability to use on any level.
This is on-top of adding 5 new bosses with each their own mechanics, one bombards units from a distance, another throws (something??) covering your screen, then one eats towers (kinda sucky mechanic), and one blocks your abilities. The last levels boss fight is super cool, a level unlike seen in any other Kingdom Rush game makes the final level an challenge and a surprise. (which I try not to spoil)
I beat the campaign in a single sitting with relative ease on the veteran difficulty, it does have some challenge to it but I only lost a level one time because I set up not knowing that levels mechanic. Its fun and makes you use some towers you might have not considered in some time allowing some excellent repeatability. (Tip: If you get stuck on a level try switching something up, with the tower swap mechanic being the thing in this game try out some other tower combinations!)
For a long time I truly considered Frontiers to be my favorite game from the Kingdom Rush series, even thought it holds much nostalgia in my heart I have been becoming more and more fond of Vengeance. With this DLC, I just gotta say there is so much content in this game that I can keep playing over and over again. If you do like tower rush games at all I would not miss out on Vengeance.
Would Defiantly recommend to anyone who likes or is even interested in trying out the tower defense genre, it truly does not get better then the Kingdom Rush series, with in my option Vengeance being the best all around.(Neglecting my nostalgia for Frontiers)
