Kingdom Rush Vengeance: Pirate Kings Review (courtepattes)
This is very similar in terms of scope and contents to the previous mini-expansion based on Hammerhold.
Pros:
+ I never say no to more Kingdom Rush contents.
+ There are plenty of new foes, and they are very diverse - basically the first four missions out of five have their own thematic array of unique foes.
+ The new hero is impressive, thematic, and powerful.
+ I'm glad they added content to Vengeance even though Alliance is released by now.
Cons:
- The last mission is not as epic as it could have been. It's basically a recap of the whole campaign. If you compare it to the very epic end of Hammerhold, it's a bit of a letdown.
- Five missions isn't that much.
- I never used the new tower.
- Many foes with instakill attacks or unblockable properties make barracks basically useless. I spammed a lot of zombies though and it worked beautifully.
- Range is key. You have foes that incapacitate your towers, that turn into other foes at their death, bosses that destroy your towers when they get nearby... So you really need long-range towers and I felt too constrained in my arsenal in this regard (and once I found a working formula I won all missions easily).
- Fewer Easter Eggs than usual, perhaps (definitely fewer achievements related to that).
Verdict:
By now you already know whether you want it or not. I got it, I don't regret it, and I had fun with it. If you don't feel paying 5€ for a new, short campaign of five missions, then you won't miss anything essential.
