Kingdom Come: Deliverance - A Woman's Lot Review (Count Flandy)

Not sure whats with all the horrible reviews, this was exactly what I expected. I enjoyed playing through this just to get a better chance to explore pre ruined Skalitz, and to get a better understanding of all the characters who you end up meeting along the main story. Small disclaimer, I'm not mentioning Johanka's story since it seems to be shit on a lot less than Theresa's.
Small highlights;
- I really liked the small nod of the begger in Skalitz and everyone turning their noses up at him, great bit of storytelling and actually made me happy that I never could give money to your neighbors whos homes were burned down.
- The storytelling of Theresa's family was great, I loved their personalities, from the tough older brother, to the father who just wants the absolute best for his daughter. By the end of this even though I very well knew what was going to happen I still managed to get a little upset seeing the fate of everyone.
- On the hill, during the quest to get Marigolds and bandages the scene of the burning Skalitz and Rovna was great, I'm not quite sure how they managed to pull it off and make it look so good, but that was quite a memorable scene.
- That one woodcutter who was standing in a yard of corpses during aftermath worrying about where he left his precious hammer was concerningly relatable to me as someone who suffers from mental illness, which is obvious he also suffers since he apparently sleeps with his precious axe under his pillow.
- Tinker best boy. Bonus points for such an odd name that grew on me quickly.
All the various storytelling bits throughout Theresa's quest managed to pull my emotions all the right way, and by the end of it seeing the dlc quests actually end was a sigh of relief. Not because it was horrible, but because I was tired from my emotions being pulled in different directions. THIS is the kind of storytelling I really want more of in games.
Honestly, if this DLC is on sale, and you like Dogs, Compelling storytelling, great characters, actually can enjoy characters who don't play to the same strengths across genders, and don't hate women I'd highly recommend this DLC. Well worth the handful of hours I spent playing it!
