Kind Words Review (Xerxes)
Kind Words 100% deserves all the praise it gets. Never before have I encountered a game solely focused on spreading positivity, mental health awareness, and the general well-being of the "player". Note that while you are technically playing a game, it feels more like you are using a tight knit online forum. (not that's a bad thing)
The community on here is probably one of the kindest I've ever seen. If it can make a depressed nihilist like myself smile... then I'd have to say it's pretty good. Of course, you cannot respond to any messages you receive. Sometimes I wish I could reply to the people who took the time to offer me advice. Despite that, I actually think Kind Words is better off without a reply system.
These are real, genuine people writing responses to other people. While I think that's a beautiful thing, I'd wager a majority of the people playing are not therapists. I truly believe that adding the ability to respond would not only take away the magic of the letters you receive, but could also indirectly discourage seeking professional help.
With all of that being said, Kind Words has definitely helped me on a personal level. I probably would've made some pretty bad decisions if I didn't get some of the support I had received from here. Though, in the end, just having a safe space to vent about my feelings alone makes the experience worth it to me.
If you have even a tiny bit of interest in it, or are just looking for a little bit of comfort, please buy this. Also, to all the people who have wrote to me (and in the future)-
Thank you.
