Kind Words Review (Lune)

The idea behind Kind Words is amazing, and during the original release of the game I loved it- spending hours anonymously sending and receiving support in a kind, loving community was such a great thing to have at a time where everyone was isolated for some reason or another.
However, over time the audience of the game seemed to have shift and now it's mostly a bunch of depressed teens complaining about love problems or people asking for music recommendations. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it does make it harder to take anything seriously- remember that old app were people anonymously shared "secrets" over cute Pintrist background pictures? Slap some stickers on that and that's what this is now.
Part of this is likely due to the extreme limitations on the app itself- for reasons of safety or ease of design (I'm not really sure which), there are heavy character limits on both the requests and responses. You're also unable to respond to a response. This leads to a lot of communication being very shallow, and a lot of the more serious users giving up on it after trying to type and retype a letter that actually means something in so little space.
If you're the kind of person who just wants to share motivational poster quotes and ask for support to life's smaller problems, this is a beautiful, kind app with a decent community compared to any other form of social media. However if you want more meaningful or realistic anonymous connections or support, you'll probably have better luck on Tumblr or something.
Either way, the stickers are really cute, the community is pretty decent, and the devs are still alive and working to update things regularly, so it's not a bad game. Just make sure you set the right expectations going into it so you don't get frustrated taking it more seriously than it is meant to be.
