Just Cause 3 Review (LuztyNutz)

Kind of incredible. A beautiful open world with loads of structures to destroy, endless soldiers to engage in firefights with, and some of the best mobility I've felt in an open world game. Forget GTA, Just Cause is where it's at.
The grapple hook, parachute, and new wingsuit are AMAZING. You feel like a mix of Spiderman, Batman, and a flying squirrel. Once you learn to cancel your grapplehook mid-pull to stay midair and readjust, and master the wingsuit's realistic weight and momentum, you feel amazing. The wingsuit is genuinely one of the best mobility options I've ever had the pleasure of controlling in a videogame.
There's many cars, scooters, helicopters, planes, and water vehicles to drive around (and eventually crash.) They handle MUCH better than GTA.
The story isn't the main draw of the game, it's a bit ridiculous and cheesy, but I was actually kind of surprised by some of the characters and more serious scenes they managed pulled off. Rico is less cut-throat and more chill, love his new look. The dictator is a genuinely captivating presence with blunt and brutal tactics. Even the scientist lady, while your typical awkward bustling scientist, starts to grow on you and has a surprising conclusion. I was shocked to hear David Tennant as the compelled government propaganda radio host lol.
Only major criticism is we're missing some tactical options from Just Cause 2. There's no run, roll, or hanging onto cars, now you can only stand on top of them. It kinda sucks and makes combat feel less deep, but we now have better grappling and the wingsuit, so maybe that makes up for it. Not a deal breaker, but I do miss those options.
As well, the map isn't quite as good as Just Cause 2. JC2's map was a massive tropical continent with snowy mountains in the middle, a great city to the east, and a great desert to the south. JC3 has 2 island regions in the south, and a larger continent in the north, with small desert regions and snowy mountains within it. It's not as interconnected or varied as JC2's world was. Not saying JC3's is outright bad, but it's not "as" good. Just a small thing to be aware of. It's still plenty of space to rampage and fly around in.
If you have the chance to get JC3, the wingsuit and grapple are great!
