Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection Review (BiCE)
Just dipped in a bit to see how everything works. Only tried the 8-bit, 1st Genesis and 1st SNES games.
The 1st SNES is a particular favorite of mine since I was a kid. Really unique game that hasn't quite been done like it since. A isometric action platformer mixed with an FPS for indoor areas. Now, I didn't have Doom or Quake at home, I had JP. Was probably my first FPS on console. LOVE this game. This port is about 95 percent there. Music is still amazing and sounds great, the addition of the rewind, instant save games and a map are great quality of life stuff.
But the one thing that brings it down is the UI. More importantly, the pop up messages that have the portraits of the characters while they give you hints, objectives or in Nedry's case, be a dick. It's a bit buggy looking, only looking somewhat normal in the Blend filter, but the portraits themselves are completely missing.
Honestly, besides the 1st Genesis game, I really only bought the collection for this one. I'll still do another full run as it's still one of my favorite SNES games of all time and wholeheartedly recommend anyone get this collection just for this one, warts and all. Just be prepared that the FPS sections are WAY different than what you're used to!
The NES and Genesis games ran great though, just haven't aged as gracefully as the SNES game.
