Jets'n'Guns 2 Review (pyr0kid)
i go way way back with this, beat the original, played Gold, so i like to believe that i have decent taste.
but this game gives me mixed feelings.
on one hand, its a perfectly good game.
on the other, it really does live in the shadow of Gold...
the effects and artstyle are decent but somewhat blinding, ive found myself dodging my own munitions because i couldnt tell where it came from, and dodging into enemy fire because it didnt stand out enough. (thats bad)
the music while definitely far from bad does feel like a step down, not that i blame them, for how could you top that?
FAR worse story presentation. the comic strip style storytelling i loved so much is gone, and now the 'plot' is reduced to effectively being tooltips.
only 1 ship, in comparison to 11 back in Gold.
in conclusion: this is good enough, but... i'd rather see Gold remastered.
basically if you liked this, try Gold. its longer and harder.
