Isekai Rondo Review (United Kingdom Business)
Game seemed cute enough, decent story start, pretty graphics, and boy do i love Isekai.
But its easy?
Like. Really easy, I don't know if i'm supposed to just not use features, but i played the game on "very hard".
Here's the run down of the game;
You've an average salary man who's had a bad stroke of luck with recent jobs, but you try to remain optimistic and go home, you nearly get struck by a truck but as you dodge it, you get stuck in the head by a plant pot and die.
A bit funny, and I personally was now interested in the story.
Without spoilers, you are then transported to a fantasy world and your life is just as terrible here than it was to start with, some things happen, you get "class" and become a sage, learn a few spells, and now you're into combat after signing up with a guild!
Theres a subplot growing in the background, you get taught about summoning which is something your companion can do, combat is turn based but uses a grid where you can position characters, so far, looks like it could be really great.
But the game then also introduces a system with an item called "magistones"
This is a currency you can use to do a few things in a shop accessed by a menu, imagine your typical pay to win MMO store, though you dont have to spend any real money in this game.
Magi stones can be used to buy special items, forge special weapons, access "special rooms" which i never used, and spin a lottery wheel (which was free per day)
I instantly forged a random weapon for that cool boost (Since i was playing on very hard and didnt know what to expect) and got a very overlevelled "hoe" weapon, sadly my companions could only use sword and staff, so it was useless, but its ok, i could just sell it.
I sold it for 900,000 gold...
"Now wait a minute" i said "That seems drastically too high"
And i was correct, I could now afford to buy every shops entire inventory 3 times over.
At this point i'm a bit concerned, but I'm holding out hope that the game wont simply become a steamroll.
I go to the first "area" of a dungeon, which are small linear maps, find my first boss, which is a giant tree thing.
At this point, i am level 9
The game reminds me of magic, and elemental weakness's
I use 1 fire spell, and take out a quarter of the boss's hp, and i cringe
Reminder, this is considered "very hard" and currently i am the richest man on the earth from selling a single item and now even without extremely powerful equipment from the magistone shop, the first boss is 1/4 dead from one attack.
The boss dies without much trouble, and i look back at the magistone shop and browse items
The items are relatively cheap, theres "loot room keys" and stat buff items, the stat buff items will increase your Max HP and Max Mana dramatically when eaten and are relatively cheap
I buy a loot room key and see just how powerful the loot is
I instantly got a lv50 magic staff that triples my current base attack stat.
Sadly that was the deal breaker for me
I like good isekai story, i like feeling powerful, I want to feel strong however from my own efforts in a game, this game WILL make you overpowered very quickly.
Maybe it evens out later and i gave up to soon, but the start of the game just didn't sell it for me.
I'll keep an eye out for other reviews and maybe some analysis of the game in the future, if it turns out that i gave up far too quickly and it truly does get better, I'll re-purchase the game.
TL;DR
Story looks amazing
Animations and Combat is visually impressive for pixel art
Combat is extremely easy even on its hardest difficulty, resulting in a lack of effort or drive to keep going.
