Invincible Presents: Atom Eve Review (JΛYCØDΛ JR.)
I was kind of just expecting it to be a visual novel based on how it was advertised on social media, but it is also a pretty fun turn-based RPG. Don't worry though! If you're in it for the usual VN romance stuff, there's plenty of that to go around. The "fanservice" is all in your hands. You control it.
It's fun seeing a good chunk of the Invincible story told from Atom Eve's perspective. Invincible fans and fans of Robert Kirkman's work overall would enjoy this, I think. I, myself, did enjoy it after all.
The choices you make allow you to bend the canon a bit, but generally speaking, you will know when something is going to stick to the story beats of the source material as it closely follows the events before and during season one. It's a prequel that also leads into the events from the show, and just in case it wasn't obvious enough from the character designs and narrative choices, it is much more tied to the show than it is to the original comic. Still, the majority of the story is new and exclusive to the game.
This is very much Eve's adventure.
There are major decisions that matter too. How you choose to be a hero is also greatly up to you. Sometimes, you'll be forced to make tough choices in the moment within a short amount of time. Saving lives can be boiled down to a matter of seconds. How will you deal with these "villains" that you encounter? It's up to you.
Just be careful not to switch save files in the settings. I lost 7 episodes worth of progress because of it after I exited to the main menu. At least, I think that's what it was. Still not sure. I just restarted from the beginning and played it all. I don't know if that's a rare issue or if it's an issue that can be fixed/will be fixed by the developers. There was only one other person on Steam who reported a similar situation to my knowledge.
In any case, be careful that an entire save file doesn't go missing.
Other than that one off incident, I had no technical problems with this game.
