Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition Review (vanhalbgott)
This was the game I managed to play back in treatment when the facility had it for the PS3. Years have passed before I managed to play it again at all, until I began playing the official arcade cabinet by Raw Thrills. The cabinet would often dispense trading cards that had characters in different skins and I forgot to bring my own once and completely flipped out because of it...so I haven't touched it until lately until I began to open up to the DC characters I recognize from the comics and started reading up on them. I've mostly read Golden-Age Batman but now playing this game I recognize every character conceived because they at heart were just comic book characters before all the adaptations of them replaced the medium entirely. I don't play this game because of the movies or other video games even if they were just as good: I currently play it because I like to read comic books and it portrays all the heroes and villains as if they were comic book characters. It just so happens that the creators of Mortal Kombat collaborated with DC Comics for a while until they perfected this fighting game in its own right. I play it because it's a good comic book video game. It also helps that this title is much cheaper than Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 and I only got back into it because I played the arcade cabinet and won many trading cards with the characters on them. Marvel did something similar with Capcom back in the 90s and made superhero fighting game arcade cabinets/video games that had both comic book and video game characters at the same time...and they did it great as well. That's personally how I feel about this one because it faithfully uses comic book characters in a video game. When was the last time somebody used a comic book character like that and it actually paid off?
EDIT: I also started playing the mobile app game as well, which means I can play Injustice anywhere too!
