Imperator: Rome Review (Jiggy)
>>>> The Positives: <<<<
>> I am Walram Geroldes, the Chief of Geroldes family/clan and Tribal Chief of Frisia (a migratory tribal settlement having three main families/clans: Malactii, Hramdri and Geroldes),
>> Hardly 26 hours into the game and I have assassinated three of my rivals. Although three assassination attempts on my biggest rival, the chief of Hramdrii clan failed and I survived one possible attempt on myself.
>> I had one dream to convert my tribal settlement into a monarchy but I left without fulfilling that.
>> In 50 years of my rule I could convert my migratory tribe into a settled tribe claiming rule over eight settlements (from five) in the present day Germany and Netherlands.
>> My wife Theodeburg Geroldes (may her soul RIP) was a devout woman who blessed me with two girls and one boy. I decided to go for marriage diplomacy and marry my first daughter into my rival tribe, the Hramdri's, when she turned 17. The old fool Hramdrii hesitated at first but I bribed him and then the great union happened.
>> My son-in-law was a fantastic researcher and he gave 100% boost to research. But he cheated on my daughter and was caught sleeping with the high priest who was 80 at that time. My daughter came to my court and screamed for justice. If justice was not served I stood losing the loyalty of my first daughter. I removed him from his position and took away his titles.
>> Surprisingly the high priest also died a month later. Maybe he could not take the stress at such an old age.
>> I realised that just having men handle high offices doesn't stop corruption of man and his soul. So why not try women in such offices.
>> I immediately made Frisia 'Embrace Social Equity'. It led to serious destability in my country but i believe it was worth it. Offices can now be taken by men and women alike.
>> That rotten patriarchal Hramdrii was upset with me and started scheming against me.
>> Meanwhile, research became slower as no other researcher had the boost or statesmanship of my son-in-law's stature. I gave him his titles and position five months later and put sanctions on him so that he doesn't get into corruption.
>> Five years later my son-in-law was found sleeping with my younger daughter. My elder daughter was furious and came to my court again screaming for justice.
>> I realised that my younger daughter was already 16 and would possibly be wanting to settle now.
>> I again stripped my son-in-law from all his titles and glory just to reinstate him a few months later because I realised he was irreplaceable.
>> While I was looking for potential suitors for my son and younger daughter, my wife who was suffering from an infection, got diphtheria, and she went to heaven a few months later.
<< I went into depression. It was not really a good time for Frisia. Romans and Carthaginians, both were marching northward towards us. Romans were looking to cross the Alps. The war between Seleucid & Mauryan empires ended and Seleucids were now eyeing to march into Europe. Macedonians were also moving towards Alps as well.
>> My wife, probably an angel now, couldn't see me depressed from heaven. So probably she lured my other rival, Baldrid Malactus, the chief of Malactii clan into a hunting expedition in which he died.
>> His wife, Hildwald Malacta was now a widow.
>> I believe it was my wife Theodeburg (may her soul RIP) who wanted this to happen. I could resist to propose Hildwald Malacta for a marriage. I was 69 and she was 67 at that time and you know age is just a number. I mean think big, it can unite two tribes, Geroldes and Malactii for good leaving that fool Hramdrii alone with his clan of fools.
>> Hildwald was very happy and so was my first wife Theodeburg (may her soul RIP). We all had a feast in the marriage.
>> By that time Frisia had a powerful navy and no pirates would dare to raid our ports. Plus, I had a check on the mercenaries for hire around Frisia, and kept some money reserve for buying them in the treasury, in case some of my pompous neighbours try some adventure against us.
>> Now I ate my own ego and decided to try one more time to bring that Hramdrii and his jokers into my fold. I offered to take a bride from their family for my son. Hramdrii, as dimwit as he was, rejected it and made me look a fool. That was the first time I decided to assassinate him.
>> I was determined to ensure the future of Hramdri clan (assuming the old Hramdrii will die of his foolishness soon) is in the fold of Geroldes.
>> I decided to independently search for a suitor for my younger daughter in the Hramdri clan.
>> There was this brilliant gentleman Randmund with extraordinarily high charisma and finesse. The only problem was that he was castrated. (Surely must have been an idea of that dimwit Hramdrii)
>> But I was confident on the abilities of my younger daughter. She will find some way or other to produce an heir for the Hramdris.
>> The marriage was called and both Randmund, now my son-in-law, and my younger daughter Aschild were happy.
>> The old fool Hramdrii had no option but to honour my daughter and take her into his family.
>> Meanwhile the Cimbrians, who got kicked out by Teutonians from their region in the present day Denmark started settling south to us and gave us a causus belli.
>> The time had come. All three clans were now united and loyal than before.
>> I decided to make Frisia into a settled tribe state from a migratory one. The dream remains the same: to form a Tribal Kingdom.
>> I guess I was missing my first wife Theodeburg (may her soul RIP) a lot, or wait, may be she was missing me a lot. Finally she called me.
>> I died in 501 AUC (253 BC) leaving behind a strong Frisia with eight settlements spread across the three provinces of Frisia, Chasuaria and Chaucia.
>> The Tribal committee will decide the next Tribal chief and all I know is that buffoon Hramdrii will never be the next one, because during my reign I ensured his popularity remained extremely low by my constant smearing of his reputation.
>>>> The Negatives <<<<
>> Font size is pathetically small.
>> GUI scaling didn't help as text and many buttons were going out of the screen area.
>> Even after using spectacles, it didnt' help.
>> It was difficult to play for hours using a magnifying glass.
>> Finally I had to use a 2.0 Better UI Mod developed by Agami. Sad that I will never get any achievement in this great game as Mods are not compatible with achievements.
>> It is really sad that Paradox has put this brilliant strategy game on bench.
