Hypercharge: Unboxed Review (littlegeek)
I really want to recommend this game. The devs are great people that care about their game. They've released a slew of free updates and are on top of fixing bugs. The base game looks and runs great, is a unique twist on the genre, and has some fun combat. Still, the game just doesn't have much replay value. You don't have to take my word for it, though; even the reviews that recommend the game only have 5-10 hours in the game on average. If that's all you're looking for, then this game will be a fun time. If you want to be able to play a game for more than an afternoon or two as I do, then this game is not for you.
Devs, I know you are working on making that campaign, but I think there are much better uses of your time and energy than something that will most likely only be played once. After you finish that, I think you need to work on making the base game more random and varied as well as some medium to long term goals for people to keep working towards. As of now, each map is basically the same experience each time. Once you find all the collectibles, why play it again? I recommend taking a page from other games that spawn random waves with a rare chance of special waves (like maybe an alien invasion or a ton of green military figures or something). The Gardens and Graveyards game mode of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare does this well. On top of making each session more fun, players need a reason to keep playing/something to work towards. Yes, there already is a ton of different skins to unlock and better versions of placeable defenses, but there is a not a clear path to earning them. It just kinda...happens every once in a while. Players need to be able to target earning what they want to.
