Huntdown Review (Hellooooo_Nurse)
I just played and finshed "Huntdown" for the 1st time! This game was pretty solid. Excellent controls, crispy, well animated and detailed pixel art, great music, fun and effective weapons with some awesomely satisfying boss fights and references. Challenging gameplay! It doesn't overstay its welcome. "Huntdown," performed wonderfully on the Steam Deck too. I completed the entire encounter in handheld. It was a quality experience.
The only downside for me was I didn't find "The Heatseekers" very enjoyable to fight against. That faction got annoying and started dragging on. With all the missiles and spongey enemy areas. "The Heatseekers," almost became a buzzkill to a point. However, the final region made up for it. "The No.1 Suspects," were a lot more pleasurable, interesting and entertaining to take down!
"Huntdown," was a delightful "Run n Gun!" Probably, a one and done game for me. I don't see myself revisiting it. However, I am still glad I finally played this title to completion. Side note: I love the "Michael Jackson" and "The Last Dragon" references. I liked the ending of "Huntdown" as well.
7/10 retro inspired game for me. Not a must play, but a game you'll be glad you did. ✌️😎
