Hotline Miami Review (Knowsome)
This game was amazing back then and it is amazing now. It hasn't aged badly not one bit.
the whole CRT asthetic, brutal violence and tough as nails split second reaction gameplay made this game a one of a kind back in the day.
So what is this game about? very simple, you play as sort of a mentally deranged hitman, who is hired by this mysterious contractor, who sends you to kill a bunch of russians.
Levels play on a top-down view, and you only can take 1 hit, so you are as deadly as you are as fragile just like the thugs and mobsters you are trying to kill. the mission is simple, KILL. EVERYONE. as fast as you can, and leave the crime scene in your car, get home, confirm the contract, and get ready for the next contract. Everything is twitch-reaction based and you are expected to re-do the same levels over and over again due to how easy it is to die.
You make use of melee weapons, shotguns, machine guns, your fists, or anything you can think of to do the level. The biggest gameplay change are The Masks which gives you substantial bonuses, and modifies the game in a very drastic way.
Thats all im gonna say about this game, it is a bit short, but it's probably one of the biggest Devolver Digital Games that put devolver on the map as one of the best indie publishers out there. The OST is also amazing.
