Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Acceleracers Expansion pack Review (TWD Kenny)
As an owner of all these cars in real life, they are extremely well detailed and faithfully modeled to the real diecasts; even down to the community-adorned "ukeT" decal that appears on Chicane's livery in real life. The people reviewing/buying this DLC are Acceleracers/HW35 superfans, but I'm happy to report that this expansion is in-depth in terms of content too. The cars are the standout point for this DLC, but the AcceleDrome map is grandiose in scale and has the Wheel of Power boasting its gorgeous glow in the center of the map. The Acceleracers expansion comes with a mini-roadmap of events to do, just like the regular campaign. It also includes some profile stuff (profile pictures, card backgrounds, etc) for both Teku and Metal Maniac fans (no Silencerz or Racing Drones unfortunately). The events have famous quotes from the movies in their descriptions that pay homage to the franchise in a quirky and loving way too. This DLC expansion is absolutely worth the $9.99 in my opinion, but I'm certainly biased and should acknowledge that. My only gripe comes down to the fact that Reverb is renamed to "Vert's" in this game, which grammatically confuses me, and makes me groan as a pedantic Acceleracers superfan. They officially confirmed this is due to legal reasons, and thankfully the model remains accurate to the movie and IRL diecast anyways, so it's absolutely forgivable.
This DLC is meant for the vocal minority of dedicated Acceleracers/HW35 fans who have been asking for new content over the past two decades, but I do think this DLC holds its value even despite that. Huge props to the developers and team behind this game for making it happen!
