Homeseek Review (Shannow)
So I will also lean towards a positive review for this game, as others have said, it is similar to Frostpunk but I would say it leans more towards being like Ixion in the way the chapters are laid out and the general goals of the game. If you liked either or both of those games, you will like Homeseek.
Downsides as I see them, like other games of this type, its very unforgiving, not much room for error, even on Easy. One thing easy mode won't do for you is give you more room on the map to play with, its very restrictive, and it will likely take most people a few attempts to figure out what will make things work, but arguably that is just another part of the puzzle. For me having to restart the level on games like this comes with the territory and it is a learning process. Saying that, the game could use some polish here and there, and I have hopes they will make improvements to it over time.
The game is fairly on par with said other games for story and choices also, and touches on things that led to the apocalypse.
All in all I've been glued to the game since I started playing it, and losing all track of time.
Addendum to this: There are two parts to this game. I've just completed the first part, which consisted of several chapters, and now I've started part two. The difficulty ramps up significantly, prohibitively so. From my observations, a fairly significant number of people stopped playing this game on the final chapter of the first part of the game, but if they didn't stop there, they may do so on the next act. Even on Easy, I feel like you would need to be a very experienced player of these type of games, and be pretty good at them in order to progress here. I think they really need to reassess the difficulty of the game and make some changes. As it is I think most people won't be able to get very far without consulting some sort of walkthrough, which to my knowledge, as of this time there are barely any such resources online, not even a wiki yet.
Homeseek is very difficult vs. Frostpunk and Ixion, I feel like theres a lot less roads to victory for it, I think they need to rethink that, but as the game is already in a more finalised state, I dunno how likely that is.
