Home Safety Hotline: Seasonal Worker Review (GamingCentral)
Protecting Against Anomalies During the Holidays
At the beginning of this year, Night Signal Entertainment released Home Safety Hotline, an analog horror game in which we answer the phone at a hotline service and help customers with their anomalous problems. I knew then that I had to play it, and I absolutely loved every second of it. Then, in September, I got really excited to see a DLC that had been released, but I wanted to play it when the time was right. That time was now.
Taking on the role of another person, Rebecca, we’ve been scheduled to work during the holidays for HSH, like every other year. During this busy and deadly time of the year, it’s our job to answer the helplines and see what we can do for customers and their issues. However, unlike any other time of the year, this season brings forth new hazards, some of which could end all life as we know it. From the 22nd of December till Christmas Day, are we up to the task? Can we help our loyal customers during this time of the year, which is meant for joy and cheer? HSH is counting on you.
Like the main game, I had so much fun playing through Seasonal Worker. I’m so happy that I was able to revisit this game after what I experienced in January. This DLC, like the base game, has times when it made me genuinely uncomfortable, whether it be the designs of some of the creatures, the calls, or even the atmosphere. Things like the Belsnicker or even the Perchta really sent chills down my spine, and I hated looking at their pictures. Another truly creepy one to look at was the False Caroler. One cool feature I noticed was the “health bar” at the top of the screen, keeping track of the cheer levels during the season. It really helps give a better idea of how well you are doing. I don’t agree with the negative reviews on this one and don’t really understand what they’re talking about.
This was an excellent addition to the base game, and I really hope more can be done with this game. It was also really cool watching the credits.
