Hiveswap Friendsim: Volume Five Review (LostTresure)

Another day in Friendsim another two trolls to befriend this time it's...Mystery yellow?! Oh and Zebruhs here too..
Well the ruse here gets blown pretty quick but as always spoilers ahead;
So we're starting this night with a lot walking and we still can't read signs and we're still broke as shit glad that got established.
So ninth friend is Mystery Yellow? MY capital for now. So we're heading to a market for some window shopping and everyone else is running away presumably because violence typical stufff here really. MY grabs us out of nowhere and invites us on a date, with a movie and troll ice cream and everything! We even get to pick the quadrant well we only have 2 of the options but we have no clue what this means yet anyway. At least you get the date if you can keep the purrbeast in the bag otherwise you just get some blood on your hands. MY walks fast and is kinda short. At least the purrbeast escape means we now know who did the dirty deed. I like how we jump straight from "She choose you to help" to accomplice to friend I think we're setting some new records here. Oh wait MY is named Polypa, funny wasn't there another troll with that name?.. Nope wait this is just THE Polypa from the troll call, nice disguise you had us all fooled (until we played the route). "Note to self: don't go dumpster diving in Alternia." Yeah we're definetely gonna remember that right? We don't want to get incinerated.
Whatever area we're in Polypa isn't from here, too bad neither are we. No MC baby don't second guess everything, you're working with a proffesional here trust her judgement! Intresting facts apartments on Alternia gets labeld with a trolls sign and doesn't have a number. Wonder how confusing that gets if people with the same sign lives pretty close to eachother? Polypa's strong as hell. It also now gets pointed out that a lot of trolls type with their knuckles because of their claws, this includes Polypa. Someone tried it and said it worked really well for them, for me it was about the same but my nails are usually pretty short so no surprise. We get a mention of an "olive and goldblood duo" she's lost a bunch of jobs to them but that's not important yet. The important thing is Polypa's contact died and she gets pretty emotional about it even though she barely knew them. She might be a mercenary but at least she cares for her friends.
Apparetly even on a planet inhabited entirely by children and teens, mercenary work is still common all the way up to teal, that's kinda heartbreaking even if not surprising. And she comes clean she only picked us because we look like a goddamned disaster, well fair we are walking around in nothing but a bathrobe. I love how we're already taking after Tagora. OH SHIT! Busted! A quick flash of silver and suddenly Polypa has a knife, does the trolls have strifedecks and sylladexes in this time? Don't wish retcon powers it's not worth it! Oh shit, again, this is the first time we see a purple (in text), I mean good for the guy whose apartment we broke into but terrible for us. Man we should have gone on that date when we had the chance! I like how the end card seems to imply even Alternia deadliest ass has a chance against Polypa.
Welp, let's try out that date idea instead! At least MC is aware enough to point out that most of our friends are coldblooded not that they seem to know what that means yet. Polypas probably not from here, wonder where we got that from? Intresting fact no one works at troll stores everything is automated. And higher floors are only for higbloods, at least that one is easy to remember. Well we don't get the grubcream but we do get popcorn so win-win either way. Wonder why there isn't any trailers before movies in Alternia, did we miss them? Content of movie, not surprising. Seems like a lot of propaganda wonder if the book Polypa talks about was any better? I wonder why the movie was harder to understand? Are recorded voices not autotranslated well by whatever made us capapble of understanding Alternian in the first place? And we now learn that we've meet a second orphan, I really hope this isn't a thing whenever we don't hear about someone's lusus. (Going by what the writers have said, no most off them seem to have their lusi even when there's no room to mention them in the routes.) We don't get anything from MCs backstory but it's not as dramatic as Polypa's. A little teal idiot running around with an eastern alternian sword challenging purrbeasts to duels? Polypa dropping hints to other trolls left and right, I think she keeps the record for most other trolls mentioned in a route with 3. And movies over after we witness, what MC doesn't know it as, a shooshpap. Polypa finds out her contact died and deja vu, anyway this is the first time we end up unintentionally full on pale-flirting with a troll. Also really late but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something but Polypa has no clue we're an alien and it's not like we had time to tell her, wonder if we ever do?
So tenth friend..Zebruh..He's an extremly well written character but he's a fucking douche, Homestuck wrote those just as well as HIveswap does, unfortunately Zebruh is the kind of douche I've had the misfortune to interact with in the past not the romance part of him just his general feel and I have a really hard time going through anything that he shows up in so sorry in advance I'll mostly be pointing out random facts we get thrown than speaking a lot about the character.
Anyway fancy part of town MCs kinda figured this isn't that safe but here we are anyway. I'm just gonna immidiately count Zebruh among the trolls who don't have a clue we're an alien, I doubt we get that cleared up. Ah yes, the importance of blood to Alternia has finally set in. First bad end card tells us highbloods are out of his league so I guess we know his angle on everything, guess that one guy way later is the one exception. Flushed Affirmation Day, another holiday to add to the small list of holidays we know trolls have. I am of the firm headcannon that there's one for every quadrant and then for all quadrants just because capitalism would gain a lot more from that. One thing to say about Zebruhs personality is that he'll continusly shit talk everyone else just to make himself sound better :/ Third lusus to be pictured and it's Zebradad scornful expression and all including a cute little bowtie marking. Too bad that just like Zebruh it's not that fun to spend time in his presence. Although Zebruh seems FAR from any kind of good in his "guests" life it's unclear if he's the one who made them all work for him or if that's his lusus doing. I couldn't rule out that he's just trying to make himself look better again by putting the blame on his lusus while you can see, one thing is clear though he's doing nothing to make things better for any off them. I wonder how the bowtie marking on a zebra can look angry? Nice work on the effects before this bad end! And Zebruh drops another troll call name Chixie, we don't meet her in this route though. (Thank god) Okay so good end we get a good brief description off what the quadrants are it's all on the wiki if you wanna know more than is given here but this is pretty much all you need to know to get the gist of it. And all the highbloods tell eachother when to get out of dodge but noone tells the lowbloods :/ Doesn't even sound like anyones ever even tried. About the highblood neighborhood "-too far away, closed-off and sheltered from the violence." and by the time anyone figures otherwise they're too stuck in what they know :(
Learnt some pretty depressing things about Alternia this volume, but at least we'll be less oblivious going forward!
