Hi-Fi Rush Review (MajorWipeout)

I cannot overstate how much I adore this game.
It has been a LONG time since I've been so immediately and so thoroughly enthralled by a game from the moment it started and held there all the way until the credits rolled.
The visuals are vibrant, gorgeous and well-animated. The characters are all expressive and every animation has the expected punch and then some with all of the glorious exaggeration usually reserved for 2d.
The gameplay is designed in such a way that it's easy to do well while looking and feeling awesome, but with a high enough skill ceiling that I know I'll still be refining and improving hundreds of hours down the line.
The music is phenomenal throughout, and the way that it's enhanced and accented by every single sound effect is unlike almost anything I've ever played. The action isn't just in-time with the music, the action CREATES the music.
The story is simple, but told through endearing and charmingly-written characters that I got invested in more quickly than I expected. Hi-Fi Rush is my new favorite anime.
A casual playthrough of the main story on Normal will run you around 10 hours - not too short, not too long. And with 3 difficulties above that, a bunch of post-game content, and incredible replayability, I can see myself revisiting this game over and over again for a long time.
You owe it to yourself to play this game.
No, you owe it to ME.
Do it.
I'm not asking.
