Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Review (Sparrow Rayne)
And yet again I found myself staring at the block of Valve in my library, high as a kite and looking for something dumb to do... I found this title and I thought... Wait a second. I already played and reviewed this! Nope! My dumbass didn't realize there was another one using Half-Life 2 elements. lol
I sorted by most populated and clicked the top result. Guys! It was one of the nicest servers I have ever encountered! I ended up spectating at first. There were two people talking about guns and how to play better in an unbelievably cordial way. Dare I say... friendly? Once I was able to join, it didn't matter that I play like I belong in a vegetable factory. We were all bros, bro-ing about! A few gave me tips. A few let me just kill them to make me feel better (though a lot of the time, I just have fun zipping around, whittling down health bars so my team can take the kill). For the most part, the game faded into the background because I was just enjoying the company so much. lol
If I had to talk about the game play though, I would probably say it feels like the first one just better tuned in a lot of ways. There's still a jank factor especially with collisions but its an older game so I forgive it. Just like I forgive the game for indicating that Combine would be Blue, but the team color is actually green? Rebels are Red and they are in fact, red so I dunno if that's wonk within the game or the server I visited. Guns feel great though. Still can't quite K.O. by launching a urinal into someone skull, but I received enough to my noggin to appreciate what could be if I were a better player. lol
Anyway, I'm yet again full of warm fuzzies from my foray into another older title that the cobwebs claimed. lol I'm glad I dusted them off!
