Guns of Icarus Online Review (Cooliodude223)
"That's not the range of the fueg!"
I picked up Guns of Icarus Online as one of my earliest Steam titles. I played it with many of my friends in multiple online matches. Before Sea of Thieves, GoI provided players with the ability to pilot a ship and attack enemy ships. Unlike SoT, GoI is played in three dimensions given the flying nature of airships. The various weapons at play were fun to use and satisfying to hit with. The variety present in the types of weapons and airships in the game was refreshing, allowing for ample opportunity to customize one's ship how they saw fit, making trade offs in speed, survivability, and weapon choice in a way that SoT cannot even approach. The first-person component of the game, repairing the ship, steering the ship, putting out fires, buffing weapons and engines, and using the weapons was tight and extremely well designed. The way the various classes/roles interacted can only be compared to the cohesiveness of the TF2 roster. Graphically impressive for a simple multiplayer game from 2012 with rock solid performance, even out rigs that were outdated in 2012. I haven't played in years, but my memories of the game are quite fond.
