Guilty Gear Review (Badsie)
Mediocre port, brutal, broken, unbalanced yet fun.
Guilty Gear 1 is unfair, and fundamentaly broken. The Ai spams constantly, doing 1 move that they repeat so you can't move the whole game. Especially Sol, Ky, and Justice. Justice can spam a gamma ray beam thing 4 times in a row and you can barely block any of it.
Despite it's issues it's still very satisfying to win, and beat arcade, the game feels very unique with it's artstyle, and background visuals.
Pros
+ Excellent ost
+ Every character plays different, no one is alike.
+ Very arcadey
+ Very cool visual design.
+ Fast paced gameplay.
+ The game gives you a bit of story you can enjoy, and it's actually important to the series.
+ Makes you appreciate the newer guilty gears.
+ It loads up really really quickly.
Cons
- Horribly unbalanced.
- The ai basicly cheats and sometimes instakills you before you can even move 1 cm.
- Spammable supers (fk Millia especially)
- Potemkin is uh... uh yeah...
- No punishment for instant kill.
- Characters become invincible at random frames for no reason.
- Instant kill makes you win the whole game, not just 1 round... this adds to the insanity.
- No online multiplayer (you would think they would add this in the port)
- Can't use unlockable characters outside of two players VS.
- While the game loads fast since its old, the porter's didn't fix one of the basic things in the game, when your monitor is 144hz the game speeds up like 2.3x times faster. Making it crazy as hell. While i beated arcade with this speed i still think it's a broken mess and you will die again and again especially from spammers.
- After losing 50% HP, supers do not cost meter.
- No audio options.
- Broken mechanics, command list doesn't give you all your inputs.
- Il shit on instant kills again and say they ruin all fun of the game for new players.
- Every character can do infinite moves.
- Despite being a port, they didn't make any improvements to the horrible training mode.
- Game does not justify a competitive scene.

Conclusion
= 4/10
Don't buy this unless your a hardcore Guilty Gear fan or a completionist, this game is not for casuals, if you enjoy brutal hard games then you will probaly have a bit of fun with it but the newer Guilty Gears are way better, this one is really outdated. The reason i still recommend it after so many issues, is because it really is a fun chaotic experince despite the issues, and sometimes brutal games are fun to master.
