Grunn Review (Parmak)
An instant classic indie gem. This game is simply fantastic and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
It's a first person adventure game with some light horror and mystery sprinkled in. You play as a gardener hired to tend to someone's yard while they are gone, but you quickly begin to realize that not everything is as it seems in the little town of Middlestum. There's a ton of those "A-ha!" moments that frankly many games these days lack, tons of little puzzles and hidden areas that only unlock once a sequence of events have been played out. Several puzzles revolve around the time of day mechanic and being in the right place at the right time. It's got a sort of time-looping mechanic, so you achieve one of several endings and then you restart from the beginning with the new knowledge you acquired. This allows you to progress faster and eventually get closer to the true ending by piecing together clues from previous runs.
Graphics wise it's not going to win any awards, but personally I love this kind of low-poly pixel filter aesthetic and it works really well here. Tons of charm is baked into this game and I loved every minute of it. There's enough creepy moments to add tension, but nothing that's gonna really scare you scare you. A few small jumpscares and some spooky imagery here and there, my girlfriend was able to play and ended up loving this game despite her hating most horror games.
It's unique, it's fun, it's got a cool mystery to unravel, and it's only 12 bucks. Buy it and give it a try, you won't regret it.
