Grim Fandango Remastered Review (springplays)

One of the most epic games I've ever played. I was entertained by every bit of the story and the characters all throughout. I haven't smiled/laughed this much at a game since later alligator. So much of the animations and dialogue made me laugh out loud and the story was genuinely really investing.
It's a shame about those dang puzzles though. So much of this game was so tedious and boring to me because I had no idea what to do. I've never been amazing at puzzles despite loving many puzzle games, but even as a puzzle game lover, I rolled my eyes after reading what I was supposed to do because there's no way a person could reasonably guess what to do in a reasonable time frame without a guide. Usually puzzle games are at least a little nice to their players by offering hints or a feature where you can easily see what you're supposed to interact with or click on. Not really an option here though, I guess people just had infinite time in the '90s?
So, would I recommend this game?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... sure? But only if you get it at a discount and you adore puzzle games/are really good at puzzles. Or if you're willing to use a guide like me. I had a much better time after I started using a guide but even then some chunks of this game got really boring and tedious at points even with the guide (year 1 pt 2 and year 2 specifically.) If the story and characters weren't as amazing as they were I honestly wouldn't recommend it and it might just be better to just watch a playthrough instead. But hey, who knows, maybe you'll know what to do without a guide unlike me.
