Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Review (Tervel)
Following my GTA III "DE" review, Vice City isn't any better. The only somewhat positive thing I can say about it is that the atmosphere isn't ruined that much, compared to GTA III and SA, but that doesn't mean it's good, the only thing that actually looks decent is the sunset perhaps but that's it. Anyways, Vice City is the worst out of all 3 of them by far when it comes to the collision issues (not that they're not present in III/SA) with at least 20% of the map having big collision issues that can't just be overlooked as you're bound to run into them while playing the game normally. I wish there was something positive to say about this but it's just so bad. The character models, as with III and SA, are terrible, looking like they're made out of clay yet again. They didn't skimp out on texture upscaling in this one either, a bunch of the textures either have typos or look terrible, especially placed to the brand new textures. The one thing that pisses me off about Vice City so much is how they didn't even bother renewing the licenses for some of the music and they instead decided that we'd be better off without some of it, despite Vice City having some of the most iconic GTA radios, such as V-Rock. How is that even acceptable for what they call the "definitive" edition of the game? I hate how inconsistent the weapon icons are too, with them using icons from the mobile port of VC, alongside the fist icon from San Andreas (which mind you is riduclous, the Vice City fist icon is very iconic). The performance is just as bad in this one and it's potentially the worst out of all 3 of them in terms of that. It's not about how low the FPS will drop, it's about the stutters. Vice City will constantly stutter despite what your settings are, making your experience even more frustrating when you pair it with the horrendous "definitive" controls. It's such a mess and it's just not worth a single penny.
