Golden Idol Investigations: The Age of Restraint Review (Loquacious Lasagna)

Much better than the prior DLC, The Lemurian Phoenix, in my opinion. While actually getting to see ancient lemuria is cool and makes for some cool puzzles with what I can only call sensible moon logic, part of me does feel like ancient lemuria was better kept off-screen, shrouded in mystery. The biggest problem I have with it is that it sort of is depicted as a society of morons? Like normally the villains in these settings do clever stuff, which is fun to figure out, but in this one they don't really do anything that clever, the puzzles mostly come from you having to figure out alien technology.
This DLC felt a bit fast- not short per se, though it is only 4 missions compared to the 5 or 6 of Phoenix, but the narrative in between missions felt oddly compressed. I don't really know where they could have put a 5th mission, though it would have been appreciated.
It's probably on the easier side compared to the other 2 DLCs, but Rise of the Golden Idol is definitely the easier game out of the two anyway. There were a couple puzzles I enjoyed a lot, but none that really stumped me for a long time outside of 2 instances where I just totally failed to understand a clue. I especially flew through the final scenario in like 15 minutes, but that might be because I'm a programmer lol. Still, I would recommend this much more heartily than Lemurian Phoenix.
