Golden Idol Investigations: The Age of Restraint Review (ampersalt)
A little weak compared to the other DLCs. Fails to form a compelling narrative from its limited amount of scenarios like Sins of New Wells or Lemurian Phoenix did. I felt a lot of suspense heading into Unraveling and Blaze of Glory, but for the final scenario in this DLC I felt a little cold-hearted piecing it together with no real care of any of the characters or the world they inhabit. The scenarios themselves are weaker as well. I was genuinely stumped at times in the other DLCs, but I felt no particular struggle here. There are also a few strange aesthetic decisions, like not having unique end screens for most of the scenarios, that made the DLC feel a little less quality than the others. The reason I still recommend it is because I very strongly like the base game and the other two DLCs, and you can buy them all together, and because I still have high hopes for the final DLC.
