GigaBash Review (Sempervirens)

Like many other reviewers, I have fond memories of games like War of the Monsters and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters. This will scratch a similar each thematically. There are moments that will feel a lot like War of the Monsters, in particular, because of the interactivity with the levels, but I actually think it's a bit more like Power Stone in that it's an arena brawler.
Now that I've laid a comparative baseline, let me just say that I think this game is great, independent of its game influences and give a few reasons why.

Great character design. I legitimately want to play all of these characters and there's a solid rep from every tokusatsu sub-genre
Evocative music, again with representation from tokusatsu history
Polish in the presentation that doesn't lean too much on B-movie styling, which would have been the easy route
Gameplay that is approachable but has a respectable skill ceiling. There are legit combos but you typically have options
Clever level design. Each level has its own novelty, which dramatically alters how effective your skill-set is and monster choice is

Presently, the online matchmaking is very quiet. I wouldn't bet on finding games at the time of this review. However, if you've got some buds to play with online or in-person and you like the theme, I don't think you'd be disappointed. It's worth it, even just for 1v1 IMO.
